Safety On The Road

Key Notes:

  • Always walk on the sidewalk or footpath.
  • If there’s no sidewalk, walk facing the traffic on the side of the road.
  • Always use a zebra crossing or pedestrian bridge.
  • Look left, then right, and then left again before crossing.
  • Cross when the road is clear or when the traffic light shows the pedestrian signal.
  • Red light means stop.
  • Yellow light means wait.
  • Green light means go, but always check for vehicles.
  • Do not run or play near the road.
  • Stay calm and alert while walking.
  • Always hold an adult’s hand when crossing the road or walking in busy areas.
  • Do not stand too close to parked cars or buses.
  • Avoid crossing behind or in front of moving vehicles.
  • Wear bright or reflective clothes when walking in low light to help drivers see you.
  • Always wear a helmet if riding a bicycle or sitting on a motorbike with an adult.
  • Sit properly and hold tight.
  • Learn simple road signs like STOP, SCHOOL ZONE, and PEDESTRIAN CROSSING.
  • If lost or in trouble, stay in one place and ask for help from a traffic officer or a trusted adult.
