Eid / Ramadan

There are two main Eids:

  • Eid al-Fitr: Celebrated at the end of Ramadan.
  • Eid al-Adha: Celebrated to honor the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
  • People wear new clothes to celebrate.
  • They visit family and friends.
  • People give gifts, especially to children.
  • Special meals are prepared and shared with family.
  • During Eid, Muslims give to charity to help those in need. This is called Zakat al-Fitr.
  • It’s a way of sharing joy and blessings with others.
  • On Eid morning, Muslims go to the mosque to pray together.
  • The prayers are an important part of the celebration.
  • Special sweets like baklava and dates are prepared and enjoyed by families.
  • Eid is a time to be with family, friends, and neighbors.
  • It’s about spreading love, kindness, and happiness.
  • Crescent moon: Often associated with the start of Ramadan and Eid.
  • Eid cards and decorations: Families decorate their homes to celebrate.
