Identify the irregular past tense

Design by Delta publications

Key Notes:-

Past tense shows that something has already happened.

Example:

  • I played yesterday. 🎾
  • She jumped high. πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

Some verbs do not follow the usual rule of adding -ed to make past tense.

These are called irregular verbs.

Example:

  • Go β†’ Went πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈβž‘οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
  • Eat β†’ Ate πŸŽβž‘οΈπŸ˜‹
  • See β†’ Saw πŸ‘€

If the verb does not end in -ed, it might be irregular.

Example:

  • I ran to school. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
  • She made a cake. πŸŽ‚
  • He took the ball. ⚽
  • Learn a few irregular verbs at a time.
  • Draw a picture of the action to remember it better! πŸ–ΌοΈ
    • Go β†’ πŸƒ
    • Eat β†’ 🍎
    • See β†’ πŸ‘€
  • Regular verbs = add -ed (play β†’ played) βœ…
  • Irregular verbs = change completely (go β†’ went) ❌
