Introduction to Possessive Nouns
- A possessive noun shows that something belongs to someone or something.
- For example, if the book belongs to Anna, we say it is Anna’s book.
How to Form Singular Possessive Nouns
- To show possession, we add an apostrophe (‘) and the letter s to the end of a singular noun.
- Example:
- dog becomes dog’s (the dog’s bone)
- cat becomes cat’s (the cat’s toy)
Examples of Singular Possessive Nouns
- Girl becomes girl’s (the girl’s dress)
- Teacher becomes teacher’s (the teacher’s pen)
- Bird becomes bird’s (the bird’s nest)
