Key Notes:-

A possessive noun shows who owns something.

  • It usually has an apostrophe (’) + s.
  • Example: The cat’s ball 🐱⚽ → The ball belongs to the cat.
  • For singular nouns (one person/animal/thing):
    • Add ’s
  • Example:
    • Dog → Dog’s bone 🐶🍖
    • Girl → Girl’s hat 👧🎩
  • For plural nouns ending in s:
    • Add only ’
  • Example:
    • Dogs → Dogs’ toys 🐕🧸
    • Teachers → Teachers’ books 👩‍🏫📚
  • For plural nouns not ending in s:
    • Add ’s
  • Example:
    • Children → Children’s games 🧒🎲
  • Look at who owns the object in the picture.
  • Match it with the correct possessive noun.

  • An apostrophe + s = something belongs to one.
  • An apostrophe after s = something belongs to many.
