Add a one-digit number to a two-digit number – with regrouping
Key notes:-
1️⃣ What is Regrouping?
Regrouping means carrying over when the sum of the ones place is more than 9.
Example: 27+527 + 527+5 → Ones: 7+5=127 + 5 = 127+5=12 ✅
- Write 2 in ones place 🟢
- Carry 1 to tens place 🔵
2️⃣ Steps to Add with Regrouping ✏️
Add the ones first 🖐️
- If sum ≥ 10 → regroup!
Carry over the extra ten 🔄
- Add it to the tens place.
Write the final answer 🎉
3️⃣ Example 1 🧮
28+728 + 728+7
- Ones: 8+7=158 + 7 = 158+7=15 → Write 5, carry 1
- Tens: 2+1=32 + 1 = 32+1=3 → Add the carried 1 → 3+1=43 + 1 = 43+1=4
- ✅ Answer: 35
4️⃣ Example 2 🧮
46+846 + 846+8
- Ones: 6+8=146 + 8 = 146+8=14 → Write 4, carry 1
- Tens: 4+1=54 + 1 = 54+1=5 → Add the carried 1 → 5+1=65 + 1 = 65+1=6
- ✅ Answer: 54
