  • When you add 0 to a number, the number stays the same.
  • 0 + 3 = 3

⚾ Add. 5 + 6 =

  • You can count on to find 5 + 6.
  • It is easier to start with the larger number. So, start at 6. Count on 5 times.
  • You end at 11.
  • 5 + 6 = 11

  • You can also add using doubles plus one.
  • Remember the doubles fact 5 + 5 = 10.
  • Notice that 5 + 6 is 1 more. That makes 11.
  • 5 + 6 = 11

  • Start at 5 and count on 1 time.
  • You end at 6.
  • 5 + 1 = 6
