Counting tens and ones – up to 99
Key notes :
Tens and Ones :
✌Tens:Tens refer to the groupings of ten units. In the decimal system, each group of ten units is represented by a single digit in the tens place of a number.
🏀If a Tenframe is completely filled then it is considered as a ten
Ones :
🏀Ones refer to the individual units that make up numbers. They are represented by digits in the ones place of a number.
🎇 If a Tenframe is not filled then it is considered as ones with respect to the number of frames filled
✔Counting by Tens:
Start with counting by tens (10, 20, 30, …, 90). Emphasize the pattern and how each number increases by ten.
⚽Counting Ones:
If a Tenframe is not filled then it is considered as ones with respect to the number of frames filled
🎄Identifying the Number:
- After counting all the filled spaces in the ten frame, identify the total number of objects. This number represents the count of ones in that ten frame.
