  • A sequence is a list of numbers in a special order.
  • Numbers can go up (increasing) or down (decreasing).
  • Example: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ⬆️

Counting up means going higher.

Count up by:

  • 1️⃣ → 1, 2, 3, 4, 5…
  • 2️⃣ → 2, 4, 6, 8, 10…
  • 3️⃣ → 3, 6, 9, 12…
  • 5️⃣ → 5, 10, 15, 20…
  • 🔟 → 10, 20, 30, 40…

Counting down means going lower.

Count down by:

  • 1️⃣ → 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…
  • 2️⃣ → 10, 8, 6, 4, 2…

  • 5️⃣ → 20, 15, 10, 5…

  • Make a number ladder 🪜 on paper to jump up or down.

  • Counting up → numbers get bigger 🔝
  • Counting down → numbers get smaller 🔽
